Projects Abroad North-Rhein-Westphalia (Auslandsprojekte NRW)

The government of the German province of North-Rhein-Westphalia (NRW) created its own programme to fund projects of NRW-based NGOs which take place in countries of the South. The NRW-NGO must serve a need of a local NGO in the South and the two NGOs have to work together in a partnership project.

Since 2012 Engagement Global (former inWEnt) is responsible for these Projects Abroad.
Only the NRW-based NGO can write an application to get funding for a partnership project which has to serve one of the Millenium Development Goals in the country of the partner- NGO. Travel costs and salaries will not be funded, only direct project costs.

Within the Cape Town-Aachen Partnership the following projects could be put into reality:

• Environmental education at schools in Manenberg (in co-operation with Selfhelp Manenberg) in 2007.
• School garden at Fairview Primary School in Grassy Park with a special trail for the blind in co-operation with LOFOB (League for the Blind) in 2008.
